I have always been a fan of Conan O’brien. It wasn’t my intention. I didn’t choose to like the guy. When you grow up without cable TV, you’re limited to a couple of channels. Fortunately, Conan has and continues to be very hilarious. I looked forward to watching his monologues and dorky sense of humor throughout middle school and highschool. To a certain extent, he greatly contributed to my passion for humor and comedy.
Unfortunately, I didn’t keep up with his show much during college and watched it even less after moving to Mexico. After I heard he was no longer doing his show, Payazaro’s heart teared a bit. I refuse to jump on the bandwagon and echo what the media and other bloggers continue to talk about of how NBC screwed him over and his time slot for the “Tonight Show”. Instead, I will celebrate some of his hilarious and best efforts to reach out to the Latino community. Only a true Latino has ever watched a full series of a telenovela. Given that there are actual Latino Spanish speakers in the following videos, I guess it makes the “Telenovela” cut 🙂 So if you’re a Latino and never watched a telenovela, this is a chance to redeem yourself. Believe it or not, it’s even more entertaining to watch than some of the novelas out right now.
Conan’s Spanish is actually pretty good regardless of whether or not he’s reading a script held by a staff member. I embedded all the videos I could find and hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
