Today’s Spanglish word of the day is cookear.

If you’re from a Latin American country or a Latino in the US, you are more than likely blessed with great food in your house. I know I am. Given the amount of times we may find ourselves in the kitchen, or send someone to the kitchen, it’s kind of important to know what the proper Spanish word for cooking is in Spanish. Some use the Spanglish word cookear and some even spell the incorrect word correctly (is that even possible?) and use the word cuquear.

Spanglish examples:

“These enchiladas were amazing! You should show me how to cookear like you.”

Mi padre siempre me dijo que una esposa no sirve si no sabe cookear.”

The proper Spanish translation for the English word “to cook” and the Spanglish word “cookear” or “cuquear” is cocinar.

“I’m gonna get off the couch and cocinar for my wife.”

Until next time!
