Bildin vs. Edificio

Today’s Spanglish word of the day is bildin (also spelled as bilding).

The funny thing about today’s Spanglish word is that you would think it would be the Spanglish verb for “to build” (it’s actually bildear). But since we Spanglish speakers gotta complicate everything, that’s not the case.

Lets look at some Spanglish examples:

“No lo puedo creer! Se metio al bildin que se estaba quemando solo para rescatar al gatito.”

No soy chismoso por que quiero, si no que todo se escucha en este bildin!

The proper Spanish translation for the English word “building” and the Spanglish word “bildin” is edificio.

“Eric thinks he’s all bad just because he has a helicopter parked above his edificio.”

Until next time,
