Today’s Spanglish word of the day is aigre.

I kinda have a problem with the word aigre because it was made unnecessarily complicated. Seriously, think about it, the word aigre is kinda disrespectful to the standard Spanglish in our community and we should be offended! Where in the hell did the “g” in the word come from? I can understand if the English word was “airg”, but it’s not. Some vato loco out there is to blame but we will never know who…

Lets look at some examples:

“Don’t forget to put aigre in the tire, it’s very flat.”

“Me siento como R. Kelly en este closet, not enough aigre to breathe.”

The proper Spanish translation for the English word “air” and Spanglish word “aigre” is aire.

“This recession is hitting hard, we’re eating nothing but saliva and aire.”
