Hello Ethpaña!
What was Payazaro doing in Ethpaña? Meeting up with his lady love and her family to celebrate Christmas and New Years together. It was definitely an experience of a lifetime and very glad and fortunate to go. My Latino Heat held up very nicely in the cold European winter. I missed being in such cool weather. Though my lips and hands got that semi-numbing tingle, it was pleasurable. I wore clothes I hadn’t touched in years! Seriously, Manzanillo is that warm and humid, even during the “winter” months. Most of the time I wear shorts and a t-shirt and still wiping a little sweat off my forehead. People want to go where it’s warm for the winter, I want [...] Continue Reading…

The Power of My Glasses
As I prepared for my trip to Spain, I quickly encountered several visa entry requirements that could have ended my trip with the immigration officer at the Madrid airport. You would think a receipt of your round-trip ticket and evidence of your hotel reservation would suffice, but the Spanish Migra reserves the right to request many more documents the moment they stereotype you as a shady and potential illegal immigrant. Though the scars on my face may initially give the impression that Payazaro is indeed a shady thug, I wore my lucky frame-less intellectual glasses. The history and power of these glasses is so strong, that I have refused to upgrade to newer glasses. I haven’t even updated the [...] Continue Reading…

Dang, Where Did 2010 Go?
Wow, it’s been a while since my last blog entry. A lot has happened since that magical Sunday afternoon when I woke up before my alarm went off. Christmas and New Years crept up faster than you can say Parangaricutirimicuaro. In a blink of an eye, I woke up in a different country and suddenly I caught myself saying my own name with a lisp–Payatharo.
2010 was a good one. It seems like every year comes and goes much faster than the previous year. Quick synopsis off the top of my head…let’s see: My facial hair is filling in, I got some new scars, I fell more in love, some family still talks behind my back and drops by unannounced, [...] Continue Reading…

Beating My Alarm Clock
Today I woke up before my alarm went off. It really made me feel good. But then again, I did set the alarm for 2pm. Call it what you will, but even if I’m tricking my mind into believing I woke up “early”, those feelings of joy that came from beating the alarm were real. I guess we really are creators of our own happiness sometimes. Make the little things count, people!

Christmas Presents
OK, I’ll admit it. I can be cheap. Emphasis on “can”. I’m not always. I was thinking about some of the Christmas presents I still need to buy this year and quickly became overwhelmed with the number of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends in my life. My list of cousins alone is pretty long. To be honest, most of my family doesn’t even deserve presents. What they need is time and personal-financial management skills. Unfortunately, buying them a book that will teach them this will end up in their pile of other useless crap items and I don’t have the time to go around to each of them to teach them about this subject matter. Maybe I should host [...] Continue Reading…

Thoughts from Sleep Deprivation
So I’m still recovering from all the fireworks madness leading up to the celebrations of our lady de Guadalupe. Which, as a side-note, how in the world do they know she was a virgin? How do they know all the holy virgins worshiped throughout Latin America were/are indeed virgins? Aside from Jesus’ mother, were these holy virgins ever human at some point in time? If not, then how could a spiritual entity engage in sexual intercourse? I need answers, NOW!
My sleeping schedule is completely messed up at the moment. To go to bed is one thing, but to fall asleep is another. When I do fall asleep, there seems to be that sporadic firework going off near my house [...] Continue Reading…

Best Time To Be In Manzanillo
It’s this time of year when I realize how fortunate I am to live below the US border. I don’t ask mother nature for too much other than to let my sweat glands relax for as long as possible and to let the dengue kill the mosquitoes first before they get to me (I know, I know, mosquitoes can’t die of dengue…let dreamers dream…*sigh*…).
The only time when I do look at a weather forecast like a fiend is during the rainy season. Our basketball league games get canceled because they’re all outdoors and the tent-like structures built above them only provide shade but do a horrible job of keeping the water from spilling onto the courts. Other than that, [...] Continue Reading…

Deep Down Inside You Want Me
So party night with the cousin went well. To ensure my attendance, my aunt and grandma came to pick me up. They say I stay away from family too much and that it’s unacceptable. Well you know what grandma? There’s a reason why I tend to stay away. But because I’m an optimist, I’m gonna look at the bright-side of these mandatory family rendezvous. For starters, interesting blog material.
I’m not one to really go too personal on blogs and expose anything that may tarnish my obvious perfection. Shoot, I’ve never even included a picture of myself in this blog (but if you want one, don’t hesitate to ask!). I’ve had a lifelong battle with that little voice planted in [...] Continue Reading…

To Be or Not To Be… Dramatic
So I just got a text message from an uncle that today is one of my millions of cousin’s birthday and that they expect me to show up to his party. Well, it just so happens that this cousin and I have a history. We never got into a fight or anything, but I did let him live in my house for about 6 months so he could get back on his feet and become self-sufficient. Well, in order to make a long story short, I will explain what happened with a little saying an uncle of mine always tells: “la visita después de tres días es como el pescado, empieza apestar.” (Translation, “Guests/visitors after three days are like [...] Continue Reading…

Current Annoying Cool Song of the Year
Every year, there are always new songs that come out that are not only pleasing to the ears but different than the rest of the songs playing on the radio or on TV. The problem with these songs is that aside from them becoming great hits, they get played over, and over, and over, and over…you are getting sleepy… and over, and over, and over… you love payazaro… and over, and over… send payazaro money… and over, and over… OK, you get the point.
I don’t know how well this song is doing in the US, but the last 3 months in Mexico, this song has been playing like beans and tortillas…e’rrrr day. It’s even given banda music some competition [...] Continue Reading…
