The Famous Self-Portrait On Facebook
Do you take pictures of yourself in the bathroom? Seriously? how conceited! Do you not have any friends to take a picture of you? Or do you play dress up, get yourself all dolled-up, take a picture of yourself and then get back into your jammies? Maybe you were so marveled by that figure of yours staring back at you in the mirror that you forgot to turn off the flash. Don’t be boring is a motto I take seriously. OK, fine, maybe you aren’t being boring (it’s certainly entertaining for me). But you most definitely were bored to take that picture. Some of you are even making weird facial expressions. Don’t know if you’re in pain or half-way [...] Continue Reading…

Do You Have a Dirty House?
Is your house dirty? Do you have your crap scattered everywhere? Has you dinner table become your work-desk? Are there floor stains from last week’s rendezvous? Are you using empty fast-food containers as your dishes? Is your room Mary Poppins’ ultimate nemesis? Then you must be suffering from a severe case of laziness. I know I am.
I’m not quite at baller status yet so I don’t have a personal maid. My house has more space than I need and so by the time I make it to the other end of the house, hell has already broken loose and smeared itself on the floor, walls and dishes. Sometimes, as much as I would like it cleaned up, it’s hard [...] Continue Reading…

Don’t Live Like A Rat And You’ll Never Beg For Cheese
Family is such a conditional word for some members of the family tree. They will only come to you when they need you. Even if you legally separate yourself and you no longer share the same last name, you still have the same aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. It’s inevitable, you will bump into them sooner or later, even if it’s at their funeral.
But even despite the beef I may have with some of my family members, I also have a soft and very empathetic part in my heart. A very gentle and tender spot that understands what it means to struggle and face the trials and tribulations of life and injustice. If you have no food, I will [...] Continue Reading…

Payazaro Doesn’t Need Alcohol
Many of you think Payazaro’s life is make believe. Everything I write in this blog is real. It’s as real as a unicorn without a horn. You may confuse it for a horse, but it’s still a unicorn. Payazaro’s life is as real as that mosquito that you hear buzzing around your head… bzzzzz…. bzzzzz…. but you can’t see it. Oh, it’s there. If it wasn’t, you wouldn’t be smacking your head trying to kill an imaginary thing like a silly goose. Perhaps some things sound exaggerated, well, your face is exaggerated. I used to think I was a little schizophrenic, but the reality is I’m speaking too many things, too fast, at the same time…or am I answering [...] Continue Reading…

You Are Not What You Have, You Are What You Give…
“You are not what you have, you are what you give.”
That is what a friend just told me. I consider myself an optimist, a “glass half-full” kind of guy. However, even though I see the good in people and try to focus on that, there are moments where you just gotta hit them with the truth. The truth is, what you are giving is crap, and if you are what you give, then yes, you are crap as well.
Am I being a little harsh? I think not. I can focus on the positives, but that will lead me down the path of preaching to the choir. Why tell the choir what they already know? Instead, I dedicate this post [...] Continue Reading…

The Love For Your Cat or Dog
It’s been a while since I’ve owned a pet. I would love to get one but it’s a responsibility I’m not willing to take on at the moment. I believe domesticated animals are essential for introverts that struggle to interact and socialize with other human beings. It’s much easier to win the conversation battle with your obnoxious meowing cat and soapbox barking dog. If your pet keeps interrupting you and hogging the mic, you can always regulate in ways that you can’t with obnoxious loquacious (damn, that’s a good vocab word!) humans.
How far some people are willing to go for their pets astounds me. I used to have a problem with people who spent a good portion of their [...] Continue Reading…

Whale Watching
In my last day in Baja California, I had the opportunity and great joy to go whale watching. Truly an amazing event. Humans are the only species that make an event out of the mating and breeding of another species. That is exactly what was going on with these gray whales. They swim thousands of miles to get to warmer water, they endure the dominant physical attention by more than 1 male whale at a time (even dolphins were joining in on the voyeurism fun!)–the least we can do is give them some privacy. Nevertheless, the whales likedededed it. They would come up close to the boat and ask for attention. I’m not gonna lie, it was a little [...] Continue Reading…

Life Experience
While in Baja Cali, I met a man that, in a weird way, reminded me of me. The only thing is that this man was well past his 50’s. Humbly speaking, there was nothing that physically resembled the fine specimen known as Payazaro. The man had a well evolved gut that only a long marriage and life-long experience can bring. If every pound gained brought with it the wisdom this man possessed, I would welcome the belly and then some.
What struck me about this man was his heart, soul and personality. He is one of those people you just want to listen to over a beer (…or two…or three). Maybe it was the questions I asked that guided the [...] Continue Reading…

A Morning View To Desire!
I’m no longer easily impressed by beaches, after all, I live 5 minutes away from one. Every morning when I get up and go to work, I see a dusty road, a couple of palm trees, a soccer field, my neighbor sweeping and watering her plants, tortilla, cheese, and shoe vendors beckoning me to their services or products. As romantic and dreamy as this sounds, you will zone it out as you get going on your day.
Spending the week in Santa Rosalía, Baja California Sur was more than pleasant. I stayed at a hotel that overlooked the Sea of Cortez. In my first morning, I was running a little late to breakfast and as soon as I shut the [...] Continue Reading…

Smallest Airport In the World
Every once in a while, I like to take a trip throughout Mexico even if it’s for business. Actually, I made it a requirement to take a trip outside the state of Colima every 3-4 months. Three months go by fast and if you think about it, that’s only 4 trips a year. They don’t have to be extravagant and long, but just enough to refresh the mind with new people, environments, food, and culture. I don’t have much money, but I do have something more valuable than that–Time!
Last week I went on a business consulting trip to Baja California Sur to help facilitate a course on intercultural communication in a global workplace (more on that on a later [...] Continue Reading…
